Why do we resist change even when we know we need it desperately???

i mean so much is going these days regarding the young people...gang wars and drug infestation of communities...isn't it at all troubling i wonder??? i mean there is not much we cant do if we stood together...maybe before anything else we need to change the government...i wonder how many young people really gave any thought to it...a lot of people are still at a stage where they just say " im not into politics"...but everyone has an opinion about drugs and gang wars...its seems saying they dont' like politics is a futile attempt to disengage themselves from actually doing something about it...taking the easy route out or waiting for someone else to do it...while at the end of the day the ticket to a peaceful country in harmony is in our own hands...all these problems of food security and personal security and health care and education all seem to be identified as big problems and accepted as so by the general public...but it seems none of them are willing to risk anything or risk change to make a difference...i mean the civil service bill is in and things are changing but there seems to be one constant factor resisting actual true change towards a modern democracy with rights of human beings respected...we all know who what that factor is....i wonder how many young people will actually sacrifice themselves for the future of their own kids??? i just wonder what will happen if a hundred [at the least] young people within ages of 18-25 sat down in front of the largest house in Male' and demanded for the change...i just wonder..maybe its just my flight of fancy...but maybe im not alone...

Well, I disagree that young people aren't socially/politically active. An increasing number of people are becoming so especially given that there is both the room for improvement and the opportunity to do so these days. Most people didn't bother because it wasn't so easy to speak up a few years ago and the habit lingers on...

I think its the older generations that resist change these days - for fear of the new perhaps.

hmmm nice work fen fulhangi.really appreciate the fact tht some youngsters like u are into politics.n i believe more youngsters are aware of politics than drugs and gang wars.I mean thats considering the people who arent drug addicts and also in gangs.
The main reason people dnt stand for change is because they have no one in the opposition that they can believe in.i jst mean no one.no single one.
Just compare the image the president shows and the opposition shows.
The way that the oppositions behaving and the anger they have on their faces let everyone know that they are in it for political gains or for personal reasons.
but on the other hand the president.just look at him.no matter how much of a devil he may be wen he's in the palace.but ones he cums out in2da public.he jst fake it or shows the image as a nice humble and a very patient man.
just think it for yourself for once.
nd i think u nyd a change in da mindset.it wouldnt makea difference if u sat infrnt of theemuge with 100 youths..or even more..u wud be chased away with golhs force simply.wht can u guys do wen ppl influential and parlimentarians are chased from demonstrations?
so u need a change in mindset.the only way u can bring down maumoon is by just putting in a candidate hu the whole country trusts....n hu listens to ppl..n hu fakes an image like maumoons fake personality.
i jst wonder if the opposition can...thts whr maumoon is professional and others arent.hes jst played thisfor too long....hehe nyway.....i respect ur perspective.....i jst wanted u to knw wht i thought of it...it wasa gud read and i enjoy commenting...
n yeah itmite be intresting for u to go on youtube and checkout sum obama speeches....hes a democratic candidate for the primaries in USA as u mite knw....jst checkout the way he connects tothe public.thts wht the opposition needs badly...cheers;)

THats well sed Ammadey...i guess we sould get chased away if we sat infront...but about candidates for opposition...well most of the elders are courrupt or guilty by association....not much left for the people to choose from...its sad...yea we aneed a united candidate who shall be supported by all people of Maldives.

So what? So the star force comes and chases us away? we can sit the next day. and the next day. heard of Gandhi's salt march? ever heard of some thing called persistence? we are a country in search of empowered citizens more than leaders. The leaders are taking us nowhere.
